5 Questions with Jayne Baldwin
Tell us about your connection to Wigtown and the Book Festival
I took my children along to what, I think, must have been the very first festival and they saw Julia Donaldson in a small back room at The Box of Frogs bookshop. Since then I've been a volunteer, part of the official bookselling team, on the children's planning committee and last year I helped as the Marquee Manager for the Children's Festival.
Sum up your festival experience in 5 words
Friendly, fun, fabulous, frustrating (so much to see!) and flabbergasting (a friend once found herself walking up the street with Ian Rankin!)
What's your favourite festival memory?
I came across Irma Kurtz and asked her if she would sign her book for me. She insisted on coming all the way back to the bookshop tent with me to sign it with care (and out of the rain!)
Who would be your dream author to appear at the Festival?
Kate Atkinson, that's Kate Atkinson, Kate Atkinson please.
