Programme changes
We've recently made adjustments to some of our events. Find out more below and if you have any queries at all, please contact our Box Office on 01988 403222 or boxoffice@wigtownbookfestival.com.
Change to meeting place: Saltmarsh Library Walks (various dates)
These were initially listed as starting outside the County Buildings. Please note that on 24 and 25 September these walks will start at the Martyrs' Stake Car Park and on 26 September, 1, 3 and 4 October the walks will start at Wigtown Harbour. Ticket holders will be contacted to advise them of the change in advance of the walks.
Saturday 25 September
Cancellation: Janey Godley: Frank Get the Door
Like many others, we have been dismayed by widely reported discriminatory social media posts by Janey Godley, which she herself has described as "horrifically offensive". After due consideration, we do not feel that proceeding with our event on 25 September would be consistent with Wigtown Book Festival's commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. We unreservedly reject racism and other forms of discrimination. We also welcome Ms Godley's apology and condemn the unacceptable trolling and gratuitous abuse aimed at her online. We will be contacting ticket holders shortly to arrange exchanges or refunds.
Saturday 25 September
Time and venue change: Caleb Azumah Nelson: Open Water
This was previously scheduled as a digital event for 7pm. As Caleb is able to join us in person, this will now take place in the County Buildings and has been moved to the earlier time of 2pm. Ticket holders will be contacted shortly and will have the option of converting their ticket to an in-venue ticket or watching the event online as originally planned.
Sunday 26 September
Venue change: Anne Brown Essay Prize
This was due to take place in the Bookshop Garden. Due to the number of bookings, we have had to move this to a larger venue and this will now take place in the County Buildings.
Sunday 26 September
Venue change: Alistair Moffat: The Night Before Morning
As a result of having to move the Anne Brown Essay Prize to the County Buildings, this event will now take place at Wigtown Primary School.
Sunday 26 September
Time change: William Hussey: The Outrage
William Hussey's event will now take place at 7.30pm.
Monday 27 September
Venue change: Larissa MacFarquhar: Strangers Drowning
This was due to take place at Wigtown Parish Church but has now been moved to the County Buildings.
Saturday 2 October
Venue change: Wigtown Poetry Prize
This was initially listed incorrectly as taking place at the County Buildings. Please note that this will instead take place at Wigtown Parish Church.
