Festival 2020 Day 2: The Whole Hogg

This year, 2020, is the 250th anniversary of the birth of the remarkable Scottish author James Hogg.

To mark this we’ve decided to dedicate an episode to the Ettrick Shepherd himself, author of the celebrated novel The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner but also a subtle and multifaceted writer whose other work occasionally gets overlooked.

We talk to Valentina Bold, a Hogg expert, as well as two authors who have been influenced by James Hogg in their work — James Robertson and Graeme Macrae Burnet.
