Allyson Shaw: Ashes and Stones
Reviewed by E Kitson
There was something very powerful about having two women talking about the persecution of women in Scottish history with an audience (both online and in person) that sat completely enthralled. There were many people attending, and you could scarcely find an empty seat when it started, but the tight fit did not hinder people’s enjoyment.
Allyson Shaw spoke of the modern way of seeing witches saying, “It’s much easier to trivialise than to grieve” but her wonderful talk certainly made sure that no one that attended would forget the names and lives of women like Janet Cornfoot.
