Help us celebrate Scotland's National Book Town.
A boost to the local economy
Wigtown Book Festival is the largest festival of its kind in Dumfries & Galloway and the second largest literary festival in Scotland. Since 1998, the festival has brought over 300,000 visitors to Wigtown and now generates £4.3m for the local economy each year. In 2019, our busiest year, we sold 29,500 tickets.
Wigtown Book Festival programme
The programme offers something for every interest including visual arts, biography, poetry, fiction, politics, food and drink, music, theatre and film. The Children's Festival (Big Wig) reaches more than 1,000 local and visiting families through 35 author and illustrator events and workshops. Our peer-programmed young adult literature events (Wigtown YA) attract an audience of 13-26 year olds.
Sponsoring Wigtown Book Festival
We welcome returning and new sponsors and would be happy to discuss sponsorship opportunities which
start at just £250 plus VAT for a single event sponsorship. Benefits
include two complimentary tickets to
your sponsored event and a name listing in the Festival website, programme and holding screen.
Other sponsorship opportunities
Wigtown Festival Company also organises a range of other projects and events throughout the year, including Big DoG Children's Book Festival and the Big DoG Schools Tour. Our writer development projects include Wigtown Poetry Prizes, the Anne Brown Essay Prize and the Compass Mentoring Scheme. Sponsorship for each of these individual projects is welcome, or we can discuss an overall sponsorship package that will include all of our year-round events as well as the Book Festival.
