5 Questions with Emily's Designs

Tell us about your connection to Wigtown and the Book Festival

I have been involved in the festival since I was 13, when my friend and I helped out in the Children's Marquee. Since then my Mum started work as Administration Officer for Wigtown Festival Company and co-ordinates The Kist events (food, drink, art and craft) and is the Festival Bookshop Administrator. It was at the Spring Kist 2013 when I had my first stall with my business Emily's Designs. It was a great success and I have attended all of the Kist events since then.

Sum up your festival experience in 5 words
Warm, busy, friendly, enjoyable, creative.

What’s your favourite festival memory?

Oh that's a tricky one, there are so many. Since I am artistic I am going to say last years 'Windows of Wigtown' by Astrid Jaekel, I loved it at night when the County Buildings’ lights were on and you could read the story created by paper cut outs. Very inspiring.

Who would be your dream author to appear at the Festival?

I'm going to be honest, I have never been big on reading however this year I have all of a sudden found a love for reading and read a book in one week (that's pretty good for me). Rom-coms are my favourite so probably either Sophie Kinsella or Jane Costello.
